The 2017 Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour is done and it was a fantastic event! The weather cooperated this year and allowed everyone to enjoy two days of biking. The Lymphomaniacs and our corporate partner, Team Forte of Forte Research Systems, raised a combined total, as of this writing, of $125,542! Thank you to all our supporters for your generous donations. The money will save lives through research and patient services.
We can't wait to ride again in 2018 at the 26th Annual Scenic Shore 150! Maybe you will join us!
The Lymphomaniacs and our partner Team Forte have raised over $100,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! This fun and hard working team of 120 riders continues to raise money to save lives. We are now well on our way to reaching $110,000 and more! Thank you to all our generous supporters. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) just released a video about CAR-T treatment breakthrough. The video features Austin Scheutz, one of the early trial patients treated with CAR-T after chemotherapy and a bone marrow treatment failed to successfully beat back his leukemia. Watch the video HERE.
CAR-T (Chimeric Antigen Receptor) uses a patient's own immune system to track down and kill cancer cells. T-cells, the body's immune cells are removed and reprogrammed using the HIV virus to recognize and target a patient's cancerous B-cells.
This breakthrough treatment has had a significant positive impact on many patients. In Austin's case, he is cancer-free after all other treatments have failed.
CAR-T research was supported by LLS funding. The trials were developed in Philadelphia and are now available in other cancer treatment centers, including the UW Carbone Cancer Center. Fundraising by the Lymphomaniacs supports research and patient services that would otherwise be unsupported. Thank you to all our supporters who are helping to save lives!
As of January 9, the team has 85 riders registered for the 25th Annual Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour. This puts us way ahead of 2016 -- 66 had signed up by this date last year.
A special welcome goes out to our 19 new Scenic Shore riders! We love first-time Scenic Shore riders and are very happy to have them on the team.
And, welcome back to our 66 returning riders! That's a return rate, so far, of 82%.
Finally, we have 36 returning Sprinters (raised $1,000 or more) from 2016! Our Sprinters raised almost $64,000 of the $83,500 total last year.
As we head into the new season and towards our $100,000 goal, remember that the support from our donors is helping to save lives and improve the quality of life for blood cancer patients.
The 2016 BELIEVE T-shirts and Lymphomaniac blood-drop helmet toppers are available to order for Lymphomaniac team members.
The BELIEVE T-shirts show our commitment to the mission of finding cures for blood cancers. We also honor those for whom we are riding by listing their names on the back. Lymphomaniacs wear these shirts at our team tent in Manitowoc at the end of day one.
The exclusive blood-drop helmet toppers, uniquely identify our riders at Lymphomaniacs. These easy to attach toppers show our team identity and help us find fellow teammates on the road.
Order your BELIEVE T-shirt by the July 1 deadline. Toppers can be purchased up to ride day though quantities are limited.
Thanks to all the supporters who donated to a Lymphomaniacs team member! You have pushed us over $38,000! Your donations help save lives by supporting blood cancer research and patient services.
We are just $36,000 from our goal. Please donate to the Lymphomaniac who asks for your support.
Donations support research. Research saves lives. Thank you for supporting our team members' efforts! Please donate today.
Customizing your fundraising web page is one of the early hurdles Scenic Shore riders encounter. Since your web page is where most of your donors will go to support your fundraising, it's a great idea to personalize your page. It's a simple task you should do before asking folks to support your fundraising.
Maybe you are riding in honor or memory of someone and want to post their photo. Perhaps you'd like to explain why you are riding and fundraising. Or you might want to post updates about your training. And, maybe you will want to change your goal from $400 to $1,000 or more. Or, maybe you want to find or edit your web page URL.
For answers to your web page editing questions, check out the LLS knowledgebase
